Mini Tug boat

I’ve always had a fascination with tug boats, especially ones that are very small.

I love playing with the boundaries of a 4ft by 8ft sheet of 6mm thick fluted plastic. The material, if you’re careful, can withstand the weight of the pilot and take on small low speed run-ins with docks, branches or logs.

Not long ago I purchased several sheets of 6mm black fluted plastic from my local Plastics supply house. These were all I could find in my state.

I split a 3/4″ by 1-1/2″ PVC trim for the Gunwales and attach them with 3/4″ aluminum button head square hole screws found at Lowes or Home Depot.

Here I’m bending up some EMT or electrical conduit for the steering wheel.

Plumbing PVC is used for the rest of the wheel. This keeps the costs down and is fun to assemble.

Here I’m adding the deck trunk that will hold my outing supplies.

It’s a fun ride.
